Effervescence Line

The Effervescence line is inspired by the artwork of Amelia Caruso who lives in the same community as me in Colorado, where she creates artwork and works to educate women that they are the masters of their own creativity.

Amelia says "I use the dot as a tool which can change someone's perspective. The relationship between colors, how a red looks with teal completely changes when that same red is placed with a yellow. The energy of the dots stacked with color could be a satellite photo or a close up image of cells. A non-objective look at the world through these dots can be anything to anyone.” The dots are hand painted with only a paintbrush. No other tools are used.

Amelia has painted multiple transformer cabinets around town as a part of our community’s Art in Public Places program and she is a local favorite. I traveled to Sitka, Alaska one summer and saw fabric in a store window that looked like her paintings. I went in and learned that Robert Kaufman Fabrics had created a line based on her work. I knew right then and there I would make something with her special fabric, so this first line of ready-to-wear stoles is made with her Effervescence fabric. I love how it beautifully expresses so many things that are important to us UUs, from LGBTQIA+ solidarity to the beauty of water communion. You can learn more about her at ameliacaruso.com.
